Roshunda Buchanan, Founder/CEO of 2Unique Community Salvation Foundation completed her one-year journey as an Economic Opportunity Fellow with the Aspen Institute Memphis Workforce Leadership Academy. This transformative experience, sponsored by the Greater Memphis Chamber of Commerce, has been nothing short of extraordinary.
The graduation ceremony, held at the prestigious FedEx Institute of Technology at the University of Memphis, marked the end of an enriching chapter and the beginning of new opportunities. Joining a community of over 150 leaders from across eight cities in the United States and Canada was a humbling experience. Together, they represented a diverse array of backgrounds, disciplines, and organizations, united in their commitment to driving positive change in the workforce ecosystem.
The fellowship was meticulously designed to expand their professional networks, foster collaboration across sectors, and enhance their leadership skills. Throughout the year, Roshunda had the privilege of engaging in thought-provoking discussions, forging meaningful partnerships, and honing in on the ability to navigate complex systems.
One of the most impactful aspects of the fellowship was the emphasis on reflective practice. Roshunda and other workforce leaders were encouraged to step back, examine their assumptions, and explore issues of race and equity through a critical lens.
As Roshunda reflects on this transformative journey, she is filled with gratitude for the opportunity to grow, learn, and connect with inspiring leaders and very excited to carry forward the lessons and insights gained from the Aspen Institute Memphis Workforce Leadership Academy as she continues to make meaningful contributions to her community and beyond.
