Memphis, TN- October 2024- The 2Unique Community Salvation Foundation's Workforce Development Specialist Apprenticeship Program continues to deliver results, both in skill development and culinary creativity. This week, apprentices showcased their talents by preparing a traditional Southern classic Shrimp and Grits under the expert guidance of their facilitator and instructor, Chef Quan Anderson.
The apprentices demonstrated their mastery cooking skills, crafting a hearty, nourishing dish that featured creamy, cheesy grits and flavorful shrimp, perfectly garnished with fresh chives. The dish, a staple of Southern cuisine, represents not only the culinary skills they've acquired but also their ability to create comforting, delicious meals that reflect the program's emphasis on both tradition and innovation in the kitchen.
"We're so proud of our apprentices for taking on this dish and delivering such a flavorful result. "Their hard work and dedication to learning these kills are evident in the quality of what they've produced. It's more than just cooking it's about building confidence and a sense of accomplishment that they can take with them into their future careers."
A special thank you goes out to our partners, Binghampton Development Corporation and the University of Memphis GROWWTH program, whose continued support makes this success possible. These partnerships help ensure that our apprentices receive hands on training in real-world environments, preparing them for promising careers in the culinary industry and beyond.
Stay tuned for more updates on the achievements of our talented apprentices and the incredible work they're doing in the kitchens and communities across Memphis.
